DRDO celebrates 68th Foundation Day

• DRDO = Defence Research and Development Organisation, the R&D wing of the Ministry of Defence, headquartered in New Delhi, mandated to deliver indigenous defence technologies to the Indian Armed Forces.
• Founded in 1958 by merging the Technical Development Establishments (TDEs), Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP) and Defence Science Organisation (DSO); began with 10 labs, now operates ~41 labs + 5 DYSLs (DRDO Young Scientist Labs).
• Foundation Day (1 January) is a recurring Prelims-style current-affairs hook; the 68th edition (2026) carries significant procurement and indigenisation figures.
