Emphasis on Swadeshi in Blue Revolution under Fisheries Department

• A policy push by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying to mainstream indigenous (native) fish species in Indian aquaculture as the "Swadeshi" pillar of the Blue Revolution.
• Combines food security, biodiversity conservation, livelihoods of small fishers, and reduction of dependence on exotic species (e.g., Tilapia, Pacific White Shrimp).
