Raksha Mantri commissions Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Pratap, India’s first indigenously designed Pollution Control Vessel built by GSL
- ICGS Samudra Pratap is India's first indigenously designed Pollution Control Vessel (PCV) and the largest ship in the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) fleet to date, built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
- Commissioned by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on 05 January 2026 in Goa; serves the dual role of marine pollution response plus coastal patrol & maritime safety.
- Relevant for UPSC under Indian Coast Guard, indigenisation (Atmanirbhar Bharat in Defence), marine pollution response, Indo-Pacific maritime security, and women in armed forces.
