Department of Posts and Ministry of Rural Development Sign Landmark MoU to Strengthen Rural Financial Inclusion, Livelihood Promotion and Logistics Enablement

• MoU signed 7 January 2026 between the Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to deepen rural financial inclusion, SHG livelihood promotion, and rural logistics.
• Converges the DAY-NRLM SHG ecosystem with India Post's nationwide grassroots reach — 1.5 lakh+ rural post offices, IPPB, and Gramin Dak Sevaks.
• Relevant for UPSC under GS-II (welfare schemes, financial inclusion) and GS-III (rural economy, banking penetration, logistics).
