Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal visits Brussels for high-level dialogue with European Union’s Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security
- Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited Brussels on 8-9 January 2026 for high-level dialogue with the EU's Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maroš Šefčovič, to expedite the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
- Significant because the India-EU FTA is India's largest pending bilateral trade pact, covering relationships with a 27-member bloc that is one of India's top trade partners; talks were re-launched in June 2022 after a 9-year freeze.
- Negotiations run on three parallel tracks: FTA, Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) and a Geographical Indications (GI) Agreement.
