• First India visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, recasting the India-Germany Strategic Partnership (est. 2000) on defence, semiconductors, critical minerals and skilled migration.
• Outcome-rich engagement with multiple Joint Declarations of Intent (JDoIs) spanning Defence Industrial Cooperation, CEO Forum, Semiconductor Ecosystem, Critical Minerals and Telecommunications.
• Held in Ahmedabad on 12 January 2026; preparatory to the next India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) to be held in Germany later in 2026.
• Tested area for UPSC: India's bilateral diplomacy with EU member-states, tech-sovereignty (chips, minerals), Indo-Pacific strategic alignment.
