India – Germany Joint Statement

• Joint Statement issued during the official visit of German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz to India, 12–13 January 2026, his first visit to India and first Asia visit as Chancellor.
• Commemorates 25 years of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership (established 2000) and builds on the 7th India–Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC), New Delhi, 25 October 2024.
• Sets a "future-ready" roadmap covering defence, trade, migration, semiconductors, critical minerals, green hydrogen, Indo-Pacific and UNSC reform — high-yield for GS-II IR (bilateral) and GS-III economy/security.
