PM Narendra Modi Dedicates Waterways and Railways Infra worth ₹830 Crores in West Bengal

• On 18 January 2026, PM Modi dedicated inland waterways + railway infrastructure worth ₹830 crore at Singur, Hooghly district, West Bengal, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).
• Bundle includes ₹552 crore of port & inland waterways projects and the flagging off of six Hybrid Electric Catamarans on Kolkata waterways.
• Significant for UPSC as it advances National Waterway-1 (Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly), Sagarmala, Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) and green transport themes.
