National Voters' Day 2026
- National Voters' Day (NVD) is observed on 25 January every year to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI), which was established on 25 January 1950.
- The day is intended to honour voters, encourage youth (especially 18-year-old new electors) participation, strengthen democratic values, and promote universal adult suffrage.
- UPSC relevance: directly tied to Polity (ECI, Article 324), electoral reforms, and current ECI tech initiatives (SVEEP, cVIGIL, ECINET) — all high-yield Prelims and GS-II Mains material.
