77th Republic Day: President approves 98 Mentioned-in-Despatches to Armed Forces & BRDB personnel, including five posthumous

• Mentioned-in-Despatches (MiD) is a non-cash, non-medal operational service recognition awarded in the name of the President of India to military personnel for gallant/meritorious service in active operations.
• On the eve of the 77th Republic Day (26 January 2026), the President approved 98 MiD, including 5 posthumous, covering Army, Navy and BRDB (Border Roads Development Board) personnel.
• For Prelims, MiD is examinable as a distinct category from Gallantry Awards (Ashoka/Kirti/Shaurya Chakra etc.) — both are notified together on Republic Day and Independence Day eves.
