TELE-DENSITY REACHES 86.76 % AND 5G SERVICES NOW AVAILABLE IN 99.9 % OF DISTRICTS IN THE COUNTRY
- India's tele-density has risen to 86.76% and 5G services now cover 99.9% of districts, per the Economic Survey 2025-26 tabled in Parliament on 29 January 2026 by FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
- Marks a decadal jump from a tele-density of 75.23% (circa 2014-15) to 86.76%, narrowing the rural–urban digital divide.
- Frames Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as a new pillar of infrastructure alongside roads, rail, ports and energy — directly examinable for GS-III (Infrastructure) and GS-II (e-governance).
