Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurates Rs 32 crore CSIR-NIO Shore-Based Regional Centre at Visakhapatnam

• CSIR-NIO Shore-Based Regional Centre, Visakhapatnam is a ₹32-crore marine science laboratory of the CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography (HQ Dona Paula, Goa), inaugurated by Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS (I/C) Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, on 30 Jan 2026.
• Strategically positioned on India's Eastern Continental Margin to support Blue Economy, offshore energy security, seabed mineral exploration, coastal disaster management and climate research.
• High-yield UPSC topic intersecting GS-III (S&T, energy, environment, disaster mgmt) and GS-I (geography of Indian Ocean).
