Transforming India into a Global Biopharma Hub
- Biopharma SHAKTI (Strategy for Healthcare Advancement through Knowledge, Technology and Innovation) is a Union Budget 2026–27 initiative with a ₹10,000 crore five-year outlay to scale India's biologics and biosimilars ecosystem.
- Target: capture 5% of the global biopharmaceutical market and position India as a leading global biopharma manufacturing hub.
- Builds on the earlier National Biopharma Mission (NBM) – Innovate in India (i3), 2017, co-funded with the World Bank, executed by BIRAC under DBT.
- Convergence point for GS-III (S&T, economy, health) — pharma is a flagship "Atmanirbhar Bharat" sector.
