Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme has transformed from a policy initiative into a national movement by mobilizing various stakeholders

• BBBP is a tri-ministerial Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched in 2015 to address declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and ensure survival, protection and education of the girl child.
• Since 2021–22, BBBP is implemented as a component under the SAMBAL vertical of the umbrella Mission Shakti scheme.
• For UPSC: a recurring GS-II case study on convergent governance, behavioural change and gender budgeting — recently re-evaluated by NITI Aayog (2025).
