DIGITAL CENSUS
- Census 2027 is India's first digital census, marking the 16th national census and the first since 2011 (the 2021 round was deferred due to COVID-19).
- Conducted under the Census Act, 1948, by the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India (ORGI) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
- Introduces mobile-based enumeration, self-enumeration portal, geo-referenced blocks, and — for the first time since 1931 — caste enumeration.
- Examinable across GS-I (population), GS-II (governance, e-gov), GS-III (data security, technology).
