TRAI issues the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services Interconnection (Addressable Systems) (Seventh Amendment) Regulations, 2026
- TRAI, the statutory regulator under the TRAI Act, 1997, notified the Seventh Amendment to the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services Interconnection (Addressable Systems) Regulations, 2017 on 5 February 2026.
- Amendment overhauls the audit framework between Broadcasters and Distribution Platform Operators (DPOs) — MSOs, DTH, HITS, IPTV — to curb repetitive audits, fold in infrastructure sharing, and tighten auditor accountability.
- Relevance: GS-II (regulatory bodies, statutory institutions) and GS-III (IT/broadcasting sector reforms, ease of doing business).
