Expansion and Status of 5G Services

• 5G = fifth-generation cellular tech enabling ultra-low latency, high throughput, massive IoT; rolled out commercially in India on 1 October 2022 by PM Modi at IMC.
• India has achieved one of the world's fastest 5G rollouts — 99.9% of districts covered and 5.18 lakh BTS installed by 31.12.2025.
• Tested under GS-III (Science & Tech, Infrastructure) and Prelims (current affairs, schemes, spectrum bands).
