To Improve Rail Connectivity in the Border Region, DPRs for Qazigund – Srinagar – Budgam Doubling (118 km) & Baramulla to Uri New Line (40 km) Prepared
- DPRs prepared for two strategic J&K rail projects: Qazigund–Srinagar–Budgam doubling (118 km) and Baramulla–Uri new line (40 km), extending the USBRL backbone toward the Line of Control (LoC).
- Announced by Ministry of Railways as part of border-region connectivity push following commissioning of the full 272 km USBRL.
- A separate Sopore–Kupwara (34 km) new line survey was sanctioned but the project was dropped after being found infeasible.
- UPSC relevance: GS-III (Infrastructure), GS-II (Border governance), GS-I (Geography of J&K).
