UNITED STATES-INDIA JOINT STATEMENT

• Joint Statement issued on 07 February 2026 by the US and India announcing a framework for an Interim Agreement on reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade.
• It is a stepping stone to the broader U.S.–India Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) launched by President Donald J. Trump and PM Narendra Modi on 13 February 2025.
• Significance: first major bilateral trade pact between the two largest democracies aimed at tariff rationalisation, resilient supply chains, and unlocking the ~$30-trillion U.S. market for Indian exports.
