CAREER PROGRESS OF AGNIVEERS

• Agnipath is a short-tenure (4-year) recruitment scheme for soldiers/sailors/airmen below officer rank in the Indian Armed Forces; recruits are called Agniveers.
• After 4 years, up to 25% of each batch is retained as regulars; the remaining ~75% exit as Ex-Agniveers, whose rehabilitation/re-employment is the focus of "career progress" policy.
• Examinable because of recent transfer of subject to MHA (June 2025) and creation of dedicated machinery under MHA (Feb 2026 Lok Sabha reply).
