Multi-State Cooperative Societies at the National Level

• Three apex national-level Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) — NCEL (exports), NCOL (organics), BBSSL (seeds) — set up under the MSCS Act, 2002 by the Ministry of Cooperation to channel cooperatives from PACS to Apex level into national value chains.
• Operational arm of the "Sahkar se Samriddhi" vision; flagship of the new Ministry created in July 2021 under HM Amit Shah.
• UPSC relevance: cooperative federalism, Part IXB of Constitution, MSCS Amendment Act 2023, agri-value chains, Make in India exports.
