RE-STRUCTURING OF NATIONAL HORTICULTURE MISSION

• National Horticulture Mission (NHM), a 2004-05 Centrally Sponsored Scheme for holistic development of the horticulture sector, was subsumed in 2014-15 under the umbrella Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).
• MIDH itself was re-structured in 2025 with revised Operational Guidelines — extending coverage to all districts, enhancing cost norms, and adding high-value, exotic and medicinal crops.
• Relevant for UPSC GS-III (Agriculture, Cropping Patterns, Food Processing, MSP/Market Intervention) and Prelims (schemes & sub-missions of Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare).
