DIGITISATION OF POST OFFICE SAVINGS SCHEMES

• Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications has migrated all Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) operations onto a Core Banking Solution (CBS) platform, layered with ATMs, internet/mobile banking, NEFT/RTGS and IPPB linkage.
• POSB is India's largest deposit-taking franchise by reach: >45 crore account holders served via >1.64 lakh post offices.
• Relevance: GS-II (governance, financial inclusion), GS-III (banking, DBT plumbing, rural economy).
