DELISTING OF MONUMENTS FROM PROTECTED LIST
- Delisting = formal removal of a monument from the Centrally Protected Monuments (CPM) list when it ceases to be of national importance, under Section 35 of the AMASR Act, 1958.
- Once delisted, ASI's protection, conservation duties and the 100 m prohibited + 200 m regulated zone (under AMASR Amendment Act, 2010) no longer apply, opening land for construction/regulation by local laws.
- Topic links heritage governance, federalism, and statutory interpretation — high salience for GS-I Culture and GS-II Statutory Bodies.
