NBA Realises ₹2.40 Crore under ABS Framework in 45 Days

• National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), a statutory body under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, realised ₹2.40 crore in 45 days under the Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) framework from 10 applications in the seed/animal feed/cosmetic sectors.
• Concretises India's domestic execution of the Nagoya Protocol obligation of "fair and equitable sharing" of benefits arising from utilisation of genetic resources.
• UPSC relevance: intersection of biodiversity governance, IPR, federalism (NBA–SBB–BMC), and global environmental treaties.
