Government Launches “PM RAHAT” – Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims
- PM-RAHAT = Prime Minister – Road Accident Victims' Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment Scheme, a statutory cashless treatment scheme under Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
- Operationalises the "Golden Hour" principle to cut preventable road-crash deaths via guaranteed hospital admission without upfront payment.
- Implemented by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) with the National Health Authority (NHA); funded through the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF).
