Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan issues instructions on war footing to achieve target of 6 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’
- Lakhpati Didi = a Self-Help Group (SHG) woman member whose household earns ≥ ₹1 lakh/annum (avg ≥ ₹10,000/month) sustained over at least 4 agricultural seasons / business cycles.
- Flagship outcome metric of DAY–NRLM under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD); central to the government's rural women's economic empowerment narrative.
- Target progressively raised: 2 crore → 3 crore (Budget 2024) → 6 crore (current); relevant for GS-II (welfare schemes) and GS-III (rural economy, financial inclusion).
