TRAI releases Recommendations on the Auction of Radio Frequency Spectrum in the Frequency Bands Identified for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT)

• TRAI, the statutory telecom regulator, on 24 Feb 2026 sent recommendations to DoT on reserve price, band plan, block size and quantum for auctioning IMT (International Mobile Telecommunications) spectrum across nine bands.
• Significant because it shapes India's next round of 4G/5G/6G-ready spectrum auction, fiscal receipts of the Centre, and the 6 GHz (upper) IMT-vs-satellite policy debate.
• Issued under Section 11(1)(a) of the TRAI Act, 1997, on a reference from DoT dated 15.05.2025.
