DRDO conducts successful flight-trials of Very Short-Range Air Defence System
- VSHORADS = Very Short-Range Air Defence System, an indigenous Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) designed to neutralise low-altitude aerial threats at short ranges.
- Developed by DRDO's Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad with other DRDO labs and Indian industry partners under the Make in India / Aatmanirbhar Bharat push in defence.
- Successive flight-trials on 27 February 2026 revalidated the system in final deployment configuration, with field operators handling target acquisition and firing.
- Relevant for GS-III (Defence Technology, Indigenisation) and Prelims Sci-Tech.
