Cabinet approves two multitracking projects covering 5 Districts of West Bengal and Jharkhand, increasing the existing network of Indian Railways by about 192 Kms
- CCEA on 10 March 2026 approved two 4th line railway multitracking projects in West Bengal & Jharkhand, adding ~192 km at ₹4,474 crore, target completion 2030-31.
- Projects: Sainthia–Pakur 4th line and Santragachi–Kharagpur 4th line, aligned with PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multimodal connectivity.
- Relevant for UPSC: infrastructure (GS-III), federal cooperative implementation, freight logistics, and India's modal-shift / decarbonisation push.
