POWER GENERATION CAPACITY FROM VARIOUS SOURCES
- India's installed power generation capacity is the aggregate nameplate MW capable of producing electricity, classified into fossil (coal, lignite, gas, diesel) and non-fossil (hydro, nuclear, solar, wind, bio-power, small hydro) sources.
- Tracked by Ministry of Power (thermal/hydro/nuclear) and Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) (RE); critical for NDCs, energy security and 2030/2070 climate goals.
- Aspirants must know source-wise MW, renewable share, the 500 GW non-fossil 2030 target and PM's Panchamrit (COP-26) pledges.
