Government launched national campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” on 27th November 2024 with the objective of making India child-marriage-free through a whole of government and whole of society approach
- National campaign launched by Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD) on 27 November 2024 to make India child-marriage-free, using a "Whole of Government, Whole of Society" approach.
- Sets a dual target: cut child marriage prevalence by 10% by 2026 and a child-marriage-free India by 2030.
- Operates alongside the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 (PCMA) and the statutory machinery of Child Marriage Prohibition Officers (CMPOs).
- Relevant to GS-I (society/women) and GS-II (welfare schemes, vulnerable sections).
