PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Elevated Port Corridor in Guwahati, Launches Multiple Waterways Projects with ₹526 Crore Investment in Assam
- On 13 March 2026, PM Modi dedicated/laid the foundation of four inland-waterways projects worth ₹526 crore on the Brahmaputra (NW-2) in Assam.
- Anchor projects: ₹180 cr Pandu Port elevated corridor (Guwahati), ₹188 cr Regional Centre of Excellence (RCoE) at Bogibeel, Dibrugarh, and ₹158 cr cruise terminals at Biswanath Ghat & Neamati.
- Implementing agency: Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).
- Strategic significance for UPSC: Act East Policy, Ashtalakshmi vision for NE, Sagarmala/Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, and multimodal logistics under PM GatiShakti.
