• NMCM is a Ministry of Culture mission (set up 2017) executed by IGNCA to document India's tangible & intangible cultural assets at the village level.
• MGMD is its flagship village-level documentation programme; its portal mgmd.gov.in hosts data on 6.23 lakh villages (as of Mar 2026).
• Examinable as a Culture/Heritage scheme: ministry, implementing body, launch year, portal, coverage numbers, and 7-category schema are classic Prelims hooks.
