National Statistics Office has planned to conduct “Rapid Survey on Functional Cooperatives” from April, 2026

• First-ever NSO survey designed to quantify the economic footprint (GVA/GVO + employment) of India's cooperative sector at all-India level.
• Conducted by National Statistics Office (NSO), MoSPI, on the request of the Ministry of Cooperation (MoC); uses the National Cooperative Database (NCD) as the sampling frame.
• Crucial for aspirants because it directly intersects Economy (GVA/GVO), Cooperative Federalism, and Statistical System reforms — recurring Prelims + Mains themes.
