Update on NP-NCD
- NP-NCD = National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases, a centrally-supported scheme under the National Health Mission (NHM) of the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
- Targets the four major NCDs — diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease/stroke, and common cancers (oral, breast, cervical) — through screening of all persons aged ≥30 years.
- Vehicle for India's commitment to SDG 3.4 (one-third reduction in premature NCD mortality by 2030) — NCDs cause ~63% of all deaths in India.
