Update on AB-PMJAY

• AB-PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) is the world's largest publicly-funded health assurance scheme, offering ₹5 lakh/family/year secondary & tertiary hospitalisation cover, implemented by National Health Authority (NHA) under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
• The March 2026 PIB update marks a >5× expansion of empanelled hospitals (from 6,917 in FY18-19 to 36,229 as on 28.02.2026) and 11.69 crore cumulative authorised admissions.
• High-yield for Prelims (numbers, ministry, grievance helpline 14555) and Mains GS-II (health, vulnerable sections, governance).
