Government Drives Green Hydrogen Expansion and Strengthens Clean Energy Transition

• National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) is India's flagship initiative to make the country a global hub for production, usage and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives.
• Implemented by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) with an outlay of ₹19,744 crore approved by the Union Cabinet on 4 January 2023.
• Critical for UPSC: links energy security, decarbonisation, INDC commitments, Panchamrit (COP26) goals, and India's net-zero by 2070 pledge.
