Cabinet approves Regional Connectivity Scheme – Modified UDAN with a total outlay of Rs.28,840 crore

• Modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) is the 10-year successor to the original RCS-UDAN (2016), approved by the Union Cabinet on 25 March 2026 with an outlay of Rs 28,840 crore for FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36.
• Combines infrastructure (airports/helipads) + operational support (VGF) + indigenous aircraft procurement to deepen Tier-2/Tier-3 air access.
• High-yield UPSC topic intersecting GS-III (Infrastructure, Atmanirbhar Bharat) and GS-II (Government schemes).
