• Bharat 6G initiative is India's national strategy to become a frontline contributor in design, development & deployment of 6G by 2030, anchored in the Bharat 6G Vision released by PM Modi on 23 March 2023.
• Driven by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, with industry-academia coordination via the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) and R&D funding through ANRF.
• UPSC relevance: cross-cuts GS-III (S&T, IPR, infrastructure) and GS-II (international institutions — ITU); also illustrates India's standards-setting diplomacy.
