Over 7.83 crore enterprises registered on Udyam Registration Portal (URP); growth trend indicated
- Udyam Registration Portal (URP) is the Government of India's single online window for free, paperless, self-declaration-based registration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the revised composite (investment + turnover) classification of 2020.
- As of 30 March 2026, over 7.83 crore enterprises have registered on URP (combined with the Udyam Assist Platform), making it the world's largest formalisation drive for small enterprises.
- Relevant for UPSC because MSMEs contribute ~30% to GVA, ~45% to exports and employ ~25 crore people — formalisation is the gateway to priority sector lending, public procurement preferences and credit guarantee schemes.
