Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) - A Major Push for India’s Food Processing Industry

• PLISFPI is a central-sector PLI scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to create global food manufacturing champions, support Indian brands abroad, and expand value addition in the food processing sector.
• Approved by the Union Cabinet on 31 March 2021 with an outlay of ₹10,900 crore for FY 2021-22 to FY 2026-27.
• Examinable for UPSC because it cuts across GS-III (economy, agriculture value-chain, food processing, employment) and is frequently asked alongside the broader 14-sector PLI architecture (₹1.97 lakh crore).
