Cabinet approves Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for Kharif Season, 2026 (from 01.04.2026 to 30.09.2026) on Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) fertilizers

• Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) is a policy regime under which the Centre fixes a fixed per-kg subsidy on each nutrient (N, P, K, S) in Phosphatic & Potassic (P&K) fertilizers; the MRP is fixed by companies but monitored by Govt.
• Cabinet (08 Apr 2026) approved NBS rates for Kharif 2026 (01.04.2026 – 30.09.2026) at a tentative outlay of ₹41,533.81 crore, ~₹4,317 cr higher than Kharif 2025.
• Examinable for Prelims (scheme + ministry + numbers) and Mains GS-III (agriculture subsidies, fiscal burden, soil health).
