Election Commission of India
- Election Commission of India (ECI) is the autonomous constitutional body under Article 324 vested with superintendence, direction and control of elections to Parliament, State Legislatures, the offices of President and Vice-President.
- Currently a three-member body: 1 Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) + 2 Election Commissioners (ECs); decisions by majority.
- Examinable for GS-II (polity, constitutional bodies) and topical due to the 2026 General Elections to 5 State Assemblies and the CEC & Other ECs (Appointment, Conditions of Service & Term of Office) Act, 2023.
