Ministry of Coal to Launch 15th Round of Commercial Coal Mine Auctions and Organise Stakeholder Consultation on 17.04.26 in Mumbai

• 15th tranche of commercial coal mine auctions to be launched alongside a stakeholder consultation themed "Atmanirbhar Bharat: Coal for Energy Security" in Mumbai on 17 April 2026, chaired by Coal Secretary Shri Vikram Dev Dutt.
• Continuation of India's flagship commercial coal mining reform begun in June 2020 — the largest structural shift in the coal sector since nationalisation in 1973.
• Relevance: GS-III (Energy security, Infrastructure, Resource mobilisation) and GS-II (Government policies, federalism in mineral revenue sharing).
