Cabinet approves Continuation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III) beyond March 2025 upto March 2028
- PMGSY-III is the third phase of the flagship rural roads programme, focused on consolidation of Through Routes & Major Rural Links connecting habitations to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Higher Secondary Schools and Hospitals.
- Union Cabinet (18 April 2026) extended its implementation period to March 2028 (roads & plain-area bridges) and March 2029 (hilly-area bridges), with a revised outlay of Rs. 83,977 crore.
- High UPSC relevance: tests scheme architecture, rural connectivity, Centre–State funding split, and federal welfare delivery.
