Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Announces Gazette Notification for South Coastal Railway and Major Expansion in Andhra Pradesh

• South Coast Railway (SCoR) is the newest zone of Indian Railways, headquartered at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with its Gazette Notification effective 1 June 2026.
• Carved out by reorganising parts of South Central Railway (SCR) and East Coast Railway (ECoR); comprises Guntakal, Guntur, Vijayawada and a renamed Visakhapatnam (ex-Waltair) division.
• Examinable for GS-III (Infrastructure) and Prelims (Polity-Federalism/Geography); also intersects with the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 promise of a new zone.
