Cabinet approves one new project covering Ahmedabad District in the state of Gujarat, increasing the existing network of Indian Railways by about 134 Kms
- Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)–Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line project on 13 May 2026, adding ~134 km to Indian Railways' network at a cost of ₹20,667 crore, targeted completion by 2030-31.
- Billed as Indian Railways' 1st semi high-speed project, to be built on indigenously developed technology.
- Strategically links Ahmedabad with Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), the upcoming Dholera Greenfield Airport, and Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex (NHMC).
