Special Intensive Revision – Phase III

• Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is the Election Commission of India (ECI)-mandated door-to-door re-verification and rebuilding of the Electoral Rolls, distinct from the routine annual Summary Revision.
• Phase III (announced 14 May 2026) extends SIR to 16 States and 3 UTs, completing pan-India coverage except Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Ladakh.
• Examinable from the angle of GS-II (Polity – ECI, RPA 1950) and current-affairs polity factoids on scale, qualifying date and excluded regions.
