Restitution of Chola Copper Plates

• Restitution = return of cultural property to country of origin; the Leiden University Library (Netherlands) handed back a set of 11th-century CE Chola royal charters to the Government of India on 16 May 2026.
• Significant for UPSC as a live example of cultural diplomacy, antiquities repatriation, and India-Netherlands bilateral cooperation in heritage.
